Mr. Fishel - 601/602/603/606/635
Grade 6 Science
Dear Parents or Guardian,
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Willian Carr JHS 194. My name is Mr. Fishel and I will be teaching your child Science this year. This letter is intended for the students, parents and guardians so that all parties are aware of all policies and expectations so your child will have a successful school year be prepared to move on to the next grade level in science.

The classroom rules are simple. They are a direct product of the rules set forth by the NYC Department of Education Student Handbook. Please refer to this handbook as needed. New 6th grade students should become familiar with general rules such as coming prepared each day, raising their hands to speak, asking permission to leave the room, and treating others with respect.

Students are expected to follow certain class routines upon entering the room. Once students become accustomed to these routines, they will be expected to complete them without prompting. They are as follows (in order of completion):

1. Take out your agenda and copy your homework.
(Students are expected to have all of their assignments written in the
appropriate place. Their agendas should be neat and doodle-free. If a student
is absent, he/she is expected to get the assignment from a classmate and
complete it within one day.)
2. Place last night’s assignment on your desk (when applicable).
3. Copy the days heading into your notebook
(For each new lesson, there will be a Purpose and “Do Now” that should be
recorded on the top the page for each new lesson.)
4. If there is a “Do Now,” complete it quietly and by yourself unless otherwise instructed.
5. If there are notes on the board, you may start to copy them into your notebook.
